Note: If your student doesn't recognize the images, that's perfectly fine. Let them respond and reflect; this makes for better follow up discussion.

Write a letter to a relative: Teach your students how to format a letter and envelope by writing a letter to a relative. Encourage them to use proper spelling and grammar. Challenge: select three vocabulary terms for them to include in the letter.
Students can complete plot diagrams based on shows/movies they watch on tv, stream, etc.
Encourage your students to prepare their own meals, and to create a recipe book. I like art, so have them design a cover for their book.
Try learning a new language! Find a program in another language, and watch it with the closed captions on.
Have students complete RAFT papers. (Check out everything on www.readwritethink.org)
Reading: Make sure your students are reading. Read Aloud matters! Read aloud to them, and have them read aloud to you!
Be safe, and stay blessed!
Parents: Many people are trying to help with educational resources at this time, and are sharing lists of educational resources with direct access for your learners. Please be extremely cautious when sharing your (and/or your child's) information with third-parties.
Below is from VDOE:
Please be cognizant of the types of online resources being shared, as they could violate FERPA, HIPPA and COPPA laws related to student privacy.
Be cautious of:
Digital resources that require teachers or students to create online accounts (whether verified through email or not)
Digital resources that have copyright restrictions (many of these may also require account creation)
Digital resources being shared by companies that have temporarily opened their paid-for resources to use for free for a limited time (some but not all of these can also require account creation)
Determining the nature of the resource can be difficult. Also, if a resource has already been approved by a school division for use and is part of their single sign-on systems those resources could still be used by the students in those divisions. Please connect with your division's technology coordinators if you have questions about acceptable use policies or currently available resources and structures to use for online learning.
